A lawn care fertilizer technician treats customers’ lawns using our 7-step lawn care program that is designed to prevent weeds and create a healthy lawn. We tell our customers they will have the best lawn possible when they go with Grassperson, so we’re looking for dedicated technicians who are committed to delivering on that promise.
Ideally, we look for a lawn care technician with three to five years of landscape maintenance or landscape installation experience. We can teach a tech about the materials we use in our lawn care programs—but we find that when a person has spent time mowing and caring for the landscape, he or she is better equipped to help our customers understand what it will take to get a beautiful yard. Also ideal is one to two years of chemical lawn care experience.
We are looking for reliable, punctual technicians who show up to work on time, and have an enthusiasm for working outdoors, and is self-motivated, self-managed, and committed to quality. You must have a valid Texas driver’s license and a good driving record, and you must be a U.S. citizen or legally employable in the U.S. It’s also important to speak and read English so you can communicate with our clients while you’re in the field.
An irrigation technician’s job is to troubleshoot sprinkler system problems (wire, valves, leaks, controllers, heads,etc) and to complete repairs to make systems work correctly.
We look for relevant irrigation repair and maintenance experience, and you should have or be working to obtain an irrigation technician license from the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality.
This position also calls for a valid Texas driver’s license and a good driving record. It’s important to speak and write in English so you can talk to homeowners about irrigation repairs and help them understand problems that crop up with their sprinkler system. Ultimately, every position at Grassperson is a customer service job.
Our crew leaders set the tone of teamwork, productivity, and quality performance by guiding crew members and working alongside their crews on our clients' properties.
We typically look for candidates that have four to six years of relevant lawn maintenance experience.
The best crew leaders have a true love of the outdoors and enjoy working with their hands. Strong candidates have outstanding communication skills, an eagerness to learn and an interest in developing a landscaping career. This position calls for a valid Texas driver’s license and a good driving record.
Landscape crew leaders oversee a team of three to four crewmembers, along with performing landscape enhancement and maintenance tasks. Our landscape crews prune trees and shrubs and install plants, along with taking care of other maintenance needs like an occasional irrigation system repair.
A horticultural background is especially helpful for the landscape crew leader position because plant knowledge separates Grassperson from the average landscape company. You should have a deep understanding of soil health, and the proper way to install plants and sod. It’s also helpful to have irrigation system repair experience so you can perform basic sprinkler system fixes.
You should show strong leadership skills and a desire to develop a career in the green industry. The crew leader position is a pathway to growth at Grassperson.
An account manager oversees clients’ accounts and acquires new customers. This position includes handling budgets, pricing, estimating, negotiating, scheduling and some marketing. The account manager is the go-to contact for clients.
This is a relationship-building job that requires a deep level of empathy for customers’ needs, and a sense of urgency. That includes an ability to prioritize tasks and respond to customer requests and business demands accordingly. An account manager should have a sales drive and the ability to act as a consultant to our landscape maintenance customers.
A potential candidate might come from a retail or wholesale nursery background because plant knowledge is so important for this position.
